The Olive Road Sidewalk and Drainage Improvements Project is located between Palafox Highway and North Davis Highway just north of Interstate 10 and south of 9 Mile Road in Districts 3 and 4. The purpose of this project is to transition Olive Road into a "Complete Street."

Existing conditions include a rural two to three-lane roadway with five-foot shoulders and an open drainage system.  At the east end of the project, near Davis Highway, the roadway is five lanes with curb and gutter, sidewalks, and a closed drainage system.  

Construction includes converting the roadway into an urban typical by removing the shoulders and adding Type F curb and gutter, five-foot sidewalks on the north side and a ten-foot multi-use path on the south. A two-way left-turn lane will also be added to the median, east of Cody Lane.  Additional proposed work includes resurfacing the entire remaining roadway, adding a closed drainage system, adding landscaping (including street trees) between the roadway and pedestrian features, improving lighting at the signalized intersections and midblock crosswalks, improving the traffic and pedestrian signals, analyzing and improving the existing signage and placing new pavement markings.
