ECFR to Hold Physical Abilities Test Aug. 26

Escambia County Fire Rescue will hold a physical abilities test Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Pensacola Fire Department Station 4, 1 N. Q St. at 8 a.m. The test is open to certified firefighters and cadet applicants interested in joining Escambia County Fire Rescue. Participants should arrive 30 minutes early to sign in. The physical abilities test is facilitated by Escambia County Fire Rescue.

Those interested in the PAT must apply for their desired position, whether a Florida-certified firefighter or cadet, prior to registering for the test. Click here to apply for the Florida-certified firefighter or cadet positions.

Florida-certified firefighters with a certificate of completion must sign up for the certified test. Those without Florida fire certifications must sign up for the cadet test. Click here to sign up for the certified or cadet tests. 

In order to become an Escambia County Firefighter, participants must pass the physical abilities test. Interviews for those who pass the test will take place Wednesday, Aug. 27 and Thursday, Aug. 28.

For Certified Firefighter Applicants: The certified test consists of:

  • 1 3/4" charged hose pull in 23 seconds
  • Keiser sled in 47 seconds
  • Tower evolution in five minutes and 40 seconds

For Cadet Applicants: The cadet test consists of:

  • 25 push-ups in two minutes
  • 40 sit-ups in two minutes
  • Run 1.5 miles in 15 minutes
  • 1 3/4" charged hose pull in 23 seconds
  • Keiser sled in 47 seconds
  • Tower evolution in five minutes and 40 seconds
