Escambia County is proud to recognize Clint Shevat, Environmental Quality Landfill Manager in the Waste Services Department, as the August 2025 Employee of the Month. Shevat’s selection was recognized with a proclamation during the Aug. 7 Board of County Commissioners meeting.
Shevat joined Escambia County as the Waste Services Department’s Environmental Quality Landfill Manager on June 11, 2023. In his role, he oversees the department’s Environmental Quality Program, and manages air, water, and land permits as well as the overall five-year operations permit for the active Perdido Landfill. Shevat has coordinated several initiatives for the department, including the Pre-Treatment Leachate project, an initiative that will help significantly improve compliance and operating costs at the landfill, and the buildout of the new Environmental Quality Building and Shop retrofit.
"It's great to be recognized as the August Employee of the Month," Shevat said. "I really appreciate everyone noticing my dedication and hard work – thank you all."
As a leader in his department, Shevat has taken on several tasks and responsibilities to help maintain excellence in Waste Services’ daily operations. He maintains the contracts and agreements necessary for the landfill to remain in compliance and has established processes to keep track of and deliver on the associated timelines. He has built strong relationships with other county departments and is regularly praised for his attention to detail and expertise in his field. Shevat has also established connections with community partners, working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to host a training session at the closed Saufley Field Landfill and organizing field training for UWF students enrolled in the Solid Waste Engineering course, helping expand their knowledge of solid waste landfills
“Clint is a shining example of what it means to be a leader,” Waste Services Director Andy Liess said. “He is always ready with an encouraging word and provides direction and guidance for his team to be as successful as possible. No task is too big or small for him – he is always willing to roll up his sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done. Clint has played a large part in the success of our department over the last several months and we are immensely proud of all the work he’s done.”
