Escambia County is excited to celebrate EMS Week, May 18-24, 2025, honoring the hard-working men and women who make up Escambia County's Emergency Medical Services Division. The Board of County Commissioners adopted a proclamation recognizing EMS Week at the May 15 BCC meeting.
EMS Week honors the entire EMS profession and its importance in protecting the safety and health of our citizens. This year's theme is "We care. For everyone."
From Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2024, the men and women of Escambia County EMS responded to 81,000 calls. Available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year, they stand ready to provide Critical Care Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support, and Bariatric Transports to all residents and visitors.
Escambia County EMS provides a vital public service to ensure that residents and visitors have access to quality emergency care, which dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate to those who experience a sudden illness or injury.
Daily, the men and women of Escambia County EMS rise to the many challenges they face, even if it means spending countless hours away from their families and friends. During EMS Week, Escambia County has the opportunity to recognize local EMS heroes for their unwavering commitment to serving their community.
“Escambia County EMS has
seen tremendous growth, and all credit goes to the men and women serving
Escambia County’s residents and visitors," said EMS Chief Chris Watts. "I take pride in the compassion and
care our EMTs and paramedics put into their careers. I thank our staff and all EMS
professionals who perform lifesaving work daily, and I’m excited to honor them
and their professions during EMS Week.”
“EMS is the bridge between the street and the medical science, where medicine begins not at the hospital bedside, but curbside,” said Escambia County Medical Director Dr. Ben Abo. “They carry no capes, only compassion. With steady heads and brave hearts, EMS writes the first line of every survival story for strangers and family alike.”
The Escambia Board of County Commissioners proudly recognizes and congratulates the men and women of Escambia County EMS during Emergency Medical Services Week.
