McElhaney Road Drainage Improvements Begin Oct. 31

Published Oct 31, 2023

Construction crews have begun work to install new box culverts and concrete pipes for storm drain improvements on McElhaney Road between Old Bratt and Cecil roads Tuesday, Oct. 31. Due to construction, road closures with detours are in place. Traffic will be detoured along Old Bratt Road to south on Morton Road, to Cecils Road and west back to McElhaney Road. The road is expected to re-open by January 2024.

Residents, pedestrians, local traffic and emergency vehicles will have access to properties within the work area at all times; however, there may be short periods when a driveway or entrance may be blocked temporarily as equipment and materials are moved during construction.

If other roadway closures are necessary or work is delayed, another notice will be issued.

A formal Maintenance of Traffic Plan was submitted to and approved by the Escambia County Engineering department on Oct. 20, 2023. Kari Edwards, Project Engineer of Record, was responsible for the submittal of the approved MOT Plan and has a valid certificate for Advanced MOT training.
