Published Dec 12, 2022

Four Pensacola Beach Lifeguards were recently recognized by the American Heart Association for their heroic actions when a citizen was experiencing a medical emergency while on Pensacola Beach.

On Oct. 8, 2022, a Pensacola Beach patron was experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency when four Pensacola Beach lifeguards sprang into action. With the use of an automated external defibrillator and equipped with the knowledge of CPR, the lifeguards were able to resuscitate the beachgoer, effectively saving their life.

"We are very happy to acknowledge the actions of our lifesaving team," said Water Safety Chief Dave Greenwood. "They responded to a patient in cardiac arrest. Through their prompt actions, a life was saved."

The following Pensacola Beach lifeguards were recognized by the American Heart Association for their heroic actions:

  • Taylor Busbee
  • Jacob Wilson
  • Aiden Morgan
  • Kelly Kennedy

“I am very proud of our lifeguards for their lifesaving efforts to save one of our citizens," said Escambia County District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender. "This is just one of the many examples of the incredible work our Pensacola Beach Lifeguards do for our beach patrons. Our lifeguards are held to the highest standards, and this recognition from the American Heart Association is a reflection of that.”
