Lee Street Sidewalks, Drainage and Sanitary Sewer Project Set to Begin

Beginning Wednesday, July 27, West Lee Street, between North "T" Street and North "W" Street, North "T" Street at West Lee Street, North "U" Street at West Lee Street, and North "V" Street at West Lee Street will all experience intermittent road closures with detours while construction crews install a new sanitary sewer system along West Lee Street. During this time, traffic will be detoured along North "S" Street, West Blount Street, West Lloyd Street and North "W" Street.

The road closure and detour along West Lee Street, between North "T" Street and North "W" Street, will begin on Wednesday, July 27, and is expected to remain in effect for approximately three months. This closure and detour includes the intersections of North "U" Street at West Lee Street and North "V" Street at West Lee Street. Work within this area is expected to be complete by Oct. 27, 2022.

The road closure and detour at North "T" Street and West Lee Street will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022 and is expected to remain in effect for approximately one month. Variable Message Boards notifying the public of the upcoming closure and detour will be installed along North "T" Street seven days prior to the closure and detour. Work at this location is expected to be complete by Sept. 2, 2022.

Residents, local traffic and emergency vehicles will have access to properties within area at all times by way of a detour, although there may be short periods when a driveway or entrance may be blocked temporarily as equipment and materials are moved during construction. If other lane or roadway closures are necessary beyond the expected time periods, another notice will be issued.

A formal Maintenance of Traffic Plan was submitted and approved by the Escambia County Construction Management Division on July 25, 2022. Lance Holland, the Contractor’s Representative for this project, was responsible for submittal of the approved MOT Plan and he has a valid certificate for Advanced MOT training.
