In order to gain a Firefighter I certification, students must complete 206 hours of fire training through online courses and practical evolutions. The five ECFR volunteer firefighters have invested numerous hours to receive the proper training to fight fires in Escambia County.
In addition to the online training and practical evolutions, the students also had to complete the following training as part of the state's curriculum:
"I want to welcome these men and women to the ECFR family and thank them for their willingness to serve their communities and dedication to complete many hours of training to attain their certifications," said Deputy Fire Chief Paul Williams. "We hope they will spend many years with ECFR and continue their training throughout their time with us."
