Residents Encouraged to Monitor Winter Weather Advisory

Published Jan 20, 2022
The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a winter weather advisory for Escambia County due to the potential for light freezing rain on Friday, Jan. 21. The winter weather advisory will remain in effect until Friday at 12 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to drop to at or just below freezing levels, leading to potential ice on Escambia County bridges and overpasses. This may result in some impacts to travel for residents.

“With the information provided to us by the National Weather Service, we expect a potential for icing on the roads between 3 a.m. - 9 a.m.," said Escambia County Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore. "If you have to be on the roadways, please exercise extreme caution.”

Escambia County will continue to monitor the forecast for any significant changes.
