Polk Avenue Closures to Begin Jan. 4, 2022

Published Dec 29, 2021
This project was originally scheduled for Dec. 7, 2021. It was delayed due to scheduling conflicts and now has a new start date of Jan. 4, 2022.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Jan. 4, 2022, Polk Avenue between Lamar Street and Cairo Street will be closed to through traffic. During this time, the roadway will be cut open to allow for installation of four gravity sewer services to lots where homes are being constructed.

Traffic will be detoured along Lamar Street east to Paulding Avenue, then north along Paulding Avenue to Cairo Street, then west on Cairo Street to Polk Avenue. The detour is expected to remain in effect until Jan. 14, 2022, at which time the roads will be clear for all traffic to pass through. If other roadway closures are necessary, another notice will be issued.

A formal Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Plan was submitted and approved by the Escambia County Engineering Department on Nov. 30, 2021. Bobby Braun was responsible for submittal of the approved MOT Plan and has a valid certificate for Advanced MOT training.

Please contact Frank Beovich, P.E., at 850-380-8064 or Jason Walters, Engineering Specialist, at 850-595-3422 with any questions/comments or if further assistance is necessary regarding this notice.
