Residents Encouraged to Monitor Potential Severe Weather Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 27

Published Oct 26, 2021
The National Weather Service in Mobile has forecasted a multi-day significant rainfall with the possibility of damaging winds and tornadoes into Wednesday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct 29.

"Right now, residents should prepare for possible damaging winds and the threat of tornadoes," said Escambia County Public Safety Director Eric Gilmore. "Escambia County remains a slight risk for severe weather, but we always want to encourage residents to remain weather aware.”

In addition to the potential for severe storms, locally heavy rainfall will be possible Wednesday night, especially near the coast where rainfall amounts of 1-2" may fall in a short period of time. Heavy rainfall could result in localized flooding. This system will also bring strong winds, the potential for coastal flooding, and a prolonged period of high surf and high risk of rip currents.

Currently, there are no watches or advisories in effect for potential flooding, strong winds or rip currents.
