Community Health Northwest Florida, in partnership with Escambia County District 3 Commissioner Lumon May and Studer Family Children’s Hospital, announces “Vax & Dash -- Drive-thru Trunk-or-Treat Edition," to take place Saturday, Oct. 30, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Brownsville Community Center, 3200 W. DeSoto St. The event will feature Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations available inside the Community Center and a drive-thru trunk-or-treat-style candy distribution in the main parking lot for children and families.
“We enjoy working with our community partners to get the word out about public health and access to vaccines. We are looking forward to seeing our citizens come out to take advantage of this special vaccination event and for children to grab some treats afterward,” said Escambia County District 3 Commissioner Lumon May.
Vaccinations for individuals ages 12 and older will take place inside the Brownsville Community Center from 5-6:30 p.m. The first 100 people to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at Saturday’s event will receive a $25 gift card in addition to a Halloween goodie bag. Eligible persons who wish to participate in COVID-19 vaccination may park in the Community Center side parking lot and walk in at their convenience during the 5-6:30 p.m. vaccine clinic hours. All individuals ages 12 and older are encouraged to get their COVID vaccine at this special event.
Drive-thru Trunk-or-Treat will take place in the main parking lot across from the front doors of the Community Center. Volunteers will be on-hand to direct traffic, instructing drivers to enter the main parking lot and drive slowly, stopping briefly at each Trunk-or-Treat vehicle. At that time, a team member will come to the window of the participant’s car and personally deliver candy and other treats to children in each car.
“We are thrilled to join Community Health Northwest Florida and Commissioner May in this fun and festive way to promote vaccinations,” said Adrienne Maygarden, Service Line Director of Studer Family Children’s Hospital. “We look forward to safely celebrating this season with the children and families in our community."
IMPORTANT:
- Participants may elect to dress in family-friendly costume, but it is not required.
- Treat distribution is for children only.
- Vaccination participants 18 and older will be required to show photo ID.
- This is a primary series vaccination event only;
NO booster shots will be administered.
- Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days or have had symptoms of illness (fever, cough, shortness of breath) in the past 14 days should not attend this event or receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
“We are excited to partner with Commissioner May and Studer Family Children’s Hospital for this special Vax & Dash event,” said Community Health Northwest Florida CEO Chandra Smiley. “It’s going to be a fun, festive time and a great opportunity for those eligible to get vaccinated.”
