Escambia County COVID-19 Update #337

COVID-19 updates will be distributed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, excluding county holidays. Data will continue to be provided on the Escambia County COVID-19 dashboard and FDOH reports. Vaccination Information:

  • Ascension Sacred Heart- Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart will hold a vaccination clinic Friday, May 21, where they will offer the Pfizer vaccine for individuals ages 12 and older. The clinic will be held at Olive Baptist Church, on Olive Road in Pensacola from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

    For those who get vaccinated, the second dose will be June 11 from 12 to 7 p.m., back at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola. To make an appointment, go to GetSacredHeartCare.com

  • Community Health Northwest Florida-Community Health Northwest Florida hosted two walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the 2315 West Jackson Street Main Site, offering both Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
     

    These clinics are open to all Florida residents who qualify to receive the Johnson & Johnson and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines in Florida including all persons age 18 and older. Community Health Northwest Florida encourages all Florida residents age 18 and older who have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine to take advantage of one of these vaccination opportunities. 

    IMPORTANT:

    • All participants will be required to show photo ID at time of appointment.
    • Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days or have had symptoms of illness (fever, cough, shortness of breath) in the past 14 days should not receive the vaccine.
  • Florida Department of Health, Escambia County-  
    • The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (FDOH-Escambia), in partnership with Sisters of Hope and 200 South, will offer free COVID-19 vaccines on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at two events in Pensacola. Walk-ins welcome, no appointment needed. Details are listed below:

      In partnership with Sisters of Hope on Saturday, May 22, 2021:
      • When: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., while supplies last.
      • Where: Community Maritime Park, 301 W Main St., Pensacola, FL
      • How: Moderna COVID-19 vaccines will be available to eligible participants ages 18 and up. Vaccine recipients will be expected to receive their second dose at FDOH-Escambia the week of Monday, June 21, 2021.
      • Additional Details: Vaccine clinic will feature live music and a free t-shirt provided to vaccine recipients. Free HIV testing and Hepatitis-A vaccines will also be available.
      In partnership with 200 South’s Pensacon Official Events on Saturday, May 22, 2021:
      • When: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
      • Where: Downtown Pensacola, Outside 211 Palafox Street, Pensacola, FL
      • How: Single-shot Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines will be available to eligible participants ages 18 and up.
      • Additional Details: To coordinate with 200 South’s Pensacon Official Events, the vaccine clinic will feature a Star Wars themed selfie station.
    • During the week of May 17, 2021, FDOH-Escambia is offering same-day clinic appointments for Florida residents 18 and older:
      Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FDOH-Escambia: 1295 W Fairfield Drive, Pensacola, FL 32501. Same-day appointments may be available by calling 850-595-6554.
    • Residents can use the statewide preregistration system, at myvaccine.fl.gov to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments. They may also call 850-595-6554 to be scheduled into any remaining available appointments, including same-day appointments at FDOH-Escambia. Questions can be directed to FDOH-Escambia’s COVID-19 phone line at 850-595-6500 option 6.

  • Florida- Sign up for text message updates about the vaccine and distribution by texting "FLCOVID19" to 888777. After you submit the text message, it will ask you to supply your zip code for local-level updates. Information about the statewide vaccine distribution plan can be found at floridahealthcovid19.gov/covid-19-vaccines-in-florida/.
The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program
  • CVS- CVS Health is partnering with several local state and federal programs to help administer the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible populations. Appointments will be available as they receive vaccines from these programs.
    • Register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app. People without online access can contact CVS customer service at (800) 746-7287.
    • Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be provided.
  • Publix - Publix opened its online reservation system for COVID 19 vaccination appointments. Publix will continue to announce appointment dates. Monitor Publix's online portal here.
  • Walgreens- Eligible individuals can schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments at Walgreens. Vaccine appointments can be scheduled at the following Walgreens locations:
    • 4497 Mobile Hwy
    • 20 W Nine Mile Road
    • 6314 N 9th Ave.
    • 870 E Cervantes St.
    • 700 N Pace Blvd.
    • 1841 E Olive Road
    • 5995 Mobile Highway
    • 2237 W Nine Mile Road
    • 85 Beverly Pkway

  • Hospital Information totals
    • Hospitalizations 27 (current hospitalizations as of 2:30 p.m. May 21, 2021)

  • Testing sites
    • Community Health Northwest Florida now offers drive-through COVID-19 testing three days per week from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
      • Mondays at 2315 W. Jackson St., Pensacola
      • Wednesdays at Cantonment Pediatrics, 470 S. US Hwy 29 in Cantonment
      • Fridays at 2315 W. Jackson St., Pensacola
      • For send out tests, no appointment is required.
      • For rapid tests (for symptomatic individuals), appointment is required; please call the CHNWF Covid-19 testing call center at 850-390-4276.
    • Baptist Health Care - Call the screening center at 850-434-4080 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to determine if you need an appointment. Online assessment screenings are also available at eBaptistHealthCare.org or by texting “Screen” to 850-318-3080. The online assessment screening is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
    • Ascension Sacred Heart- Due to decreased demand for testing and lower rates of COVID-19 in the community, Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart will close its drive-thru COVID-19 testing centers after April 1.

      • Ascension Sacred Heart will continue to provide COVID-19 testing at its Urgent Care Centers in Pensacola and Pace. The Urgent Care Center on Highway 29 in Pensacola and the Urgent Care Center on Highway 90 in Pace are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (The Urgent Care Centers will reduce their hours on Easter Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
      • Ascension Sacred Heart stands ready to ramp up drive-thru testing if there is another spike of the virus in the community.
  • Rapid testing information
    • Appointments are available for Escambia County residents who are 3 months and older and are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Patients desiring COVID-19 testing through Ascension Sacred Heart's locations in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties should pre-register online by visiting: www.getsacredheartcare.com to be pre-screened and scheduled (if eligible) or call Community Health Northwest Florida at 850-390-4276. Rapid testing is offered for symptomatic individuals by appointment only.

  • Cumulatively, 1,553 Escambia County inmates have been tested:
    • 291 positive (258 have been medically cleared, and 27 have been released from custody, leaving 6 active, positive cases at this time)
    • 1262 negative
    • 0 pending
  • At the Walton County jail, 29 Escambia County inmates tested positive out of the 146 inmates housed there.

Florida Department of Health in Escambia County

  • State Surgeon General Issues Public Health Advisory Rescinding Previously Issued Advisories, Expanding Vaccine Eligibility, and Encouraging the Resumption of In-Person Government Operations and Services Statewide
  • Effective Monday, April 5, 2021, all Florida residents are eligible to receive any COVID-19 vaccine as prescribed by the Food and Drug Administration, as described in the Governor’s Executive Order.
  • During the week of May 17, 2021, FDOH-Escambia is offering same-day clinic appointments for Florida residents 18 and older:

  • Escambia County residents should use the statewide preregistration system to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments. Residents can call the toll-free line at 866-201-1025 or preregister online at myvaccine.fl.gov. The TTY number for the deaf and hard of hearing is 833-476-1461. The State established a help line at 833-959-0217 for those who need to make changes to their original preregistration. 
    • Registrants are now able to schedule appointments immediately after preregistering or logging on if appointments are available. This preregistration system allows users to find vaccine locations on the locator map and choose the location most convenient for them. Residents can view available time slots for each vaccine location and schedule their appointment. Residents may also opt to be contacted by phone to schedule their appointment.
    • Appointments are opened based upon the vaccine supply received each week from the State of Florida. Please be aware that the scheduling process will NOT ask for financial information or social security information.
  • Florida has launched a COVID-19 Vaccine Report that will be updated daily. As of May 21, 106,003 Escambia County residents have been vaccinated.
  • As of 2 p.m., May 21, Escambia County has had 36,454 positive COVID-19 cases. This number is expected to change daily due to the return of results from ongoing testing. The best source for up-to-date information regarding confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Florida is the Florida Department of Health website and the associated Data and Surveillance Dashboard and Daily Report. The site is currently updated once daily, at around 3 p.m. ET.
  • The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Escambia County residents is 698 individuals.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

  • The CDC has updated their guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals: If you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you can resume activities without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws, incl. local business and workplace guidance.
    • The Transportation Security Administration's mask mandate is in place through September 13 on commercial flights, trains, buses, boats and in terminals.
