The air show program this year will be built around social distancing in observance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for the COVID-19 virus. Governor's Press Office

  • Gov. Ron DeSantis unveiled a plan at a press conference today that expects K-12 schools to reopen in August at full capacity. The effort must make safety a priority. The plan includes many ideas about disinfecting, cleaning and social distancing — as well as possibilities for when distancing is not possible, such as on buses. At the same time, according to the plan, the schools also must operate with a clear sense of purpose as they get back to business. Closing achievement gaps among group of students, many of whom might have suffered learning losses during a spring of distance schooling, should drive that moral imperative, the plan says. As with other education announcements, the outline indicates that the state is making recommendations, not mandates, for school districts to consider.
