Escambia County COVID-19 Update #85

Weekend updates will be distributed only when there is new information.       

Baptist Health Care - Visitation During COVI-19 at Baptist Health Care Hospitals
Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital Only
One visitor at a time will be allowed to visit a hospital inpatient.

• No visitors will be allowed who have COVID-19 symptoms, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
• Visitors will be provided a visitor badge which must be displayed and visible during the entirety of the visit.
• No children under the age of 18 are permitted to visit.
• At the discretion of the hospital staff, a visitor may be asked to leave as the situation warrants.

Behavioral Medicine Center (Behavioral Health Inpatient Departments Only)
Per state of Florida guidelines, there is no visitation allowed to adult mental health treatment facilities at this time. Youth visitation is limited to parents/guardians only. No siblings or anyone under the age of 18 are allowed to visit.

Jay Hospital
Because of Jay Hospital’s designation to provide skilled nursing care, more rigid visitation requirements apply. Therefore, a no visitation policy will remain in place.

EXCEPTIONS
A visitor whose presence is essential to the care of a patient may be allowed to visit. “Essential” is defined as one or more of the following:

• Patients who may be impaired and require a support person to care for them Patients with disruptive behavior in which a support person is key to their care
• Patients who have altered mental status or developmental delays (in which support person is key to their safe care)
• Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian.
• For patients receiving end of life care, our team will arrange visitation times with loved ones. During
• such times, your questions and concerns will be addressed.

City of Pensacola
Pensacola Fire Department Available to Assist Businesses with 25% Occupancy Adjustment

• To promote Pensacola’s COVID-19 recovery and community risk reduction, the Pensacola Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office is available to assist business owners with calculating their new 25 percent maximum occupant capacity. This service is provided as a courtesy to business owners within the City of Pensacola limits.
• Executive Order 20-112 from Gov. Ron DeSantis allows businesses to reopen in Florida with limitations on occupancy. The order limits occupancy to 25 percent of capacity in retail spaces and restaurants.
• The PFD Fire Marshal’s Office is available to assist businesses in the city with determining their temporary occupancy loads and, if required, contact other appropriate agencies.

• Community Health Northwest Florida has rescheduled the COVID-19 walk-up testing for Gonzales Court for this Wednesday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Limited to Escambia County residents only.

• All grand jury proceedings, jury selection proceedings, and criminal and civil jury trials are suspended through Thursday, July 2, 2020, by order of the Supreme Court of Florida. 

Florida Department of Health in Escambia County

• As of 10 a.m., May 5, Escambia County has had 598 positive COVID-19 cases. This number is expected to change daily due to the return of results from ongoing testing. The best source for up-to-date information regarding confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Florida is the Florida Department of Health website and the associated Data and Surveillance Dashboard and Daily Report. The site is currently updated once daily, at around 3 p.m. ET.
• The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Escambia County residents is 14 individuals.
• The Florida Department of Health announced that the list of long-term care facilities in Florida associated with COVID-19 cases will now include active cases in each facility in order to provide real-time data. The list of long-term care facilities with active COVID-19 cases is available here.
• The Department is providing a report detailing surveillance data for every Florida county. Previously, this information was only available for select communities. The surveillance data report is available here. 
• To view demographics of cases in Escambia County, visit the COVID-19 dashboard and select Escambia County. The following case data will appear: age, gender, race, and ethnicity.
• Use the COVID 19 testing self-checker to determine if you need to call your healthcare provider to be tested.
