Australian Shepherd Escapes from Animal Shelter During Intake

Published Aug 26, 2018

Escambia County Animal Control urges residents to be on the lookout for an Australian Shepherd that escaped from the Escambia County Animal Shelter Saturday night, Aug. 25. He was last seen headed west on Fairfield Drive near W Street. If you encounter the dog, please do not approach him, but instead call Animal Control at 850-595-0097.

The dog is a 13-month-old male Australian Shepherd with blue eyes and white, tan and black fur. He answers to Jax and is expected to be very frightened. Any dog that is frightened and in an unfamiliar situation can bite, and he is not current on vaccinations.

Jax escaped the shelter while an Animal Control officer was moving him into a kennel. He went out the garage door and through a gap in the gate, and the officer was unable to catch him.
