The Florida Office of Greenways and Trails is currently receiving public comment on the Five Year Systems Plan update. The plan will be used by the state of Florida through 2022 to implement the vision of a connected statewide system of greenways and water trails for recreation, conservation, and alternative transpiration. The Office of Greenways and Trails will hold a public workshop Monday, Dec. 4 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Blackwater Heritage State Trail Visitor Center, 5533 Alabama St. in Milton.
Changes to the plan land and water priorities will have the potential to impact future funding availability for projects in Escambia County and across the Florida Panhandle. Click here for more information including the draft plan, maps and contact information.
Written public comments will be received through Friday, Dec. 15. Comments on the plan can be submitted directly to the Office of Greenways via email at [email protected].
