Chairman and District 2 Commissioner Doug Underhill will hold a Perdido Key Habitat Conservation Plan Town Hall Tuesday, May 2 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Southwest Branch Library, located at 12248 Gulf Beach Hwy. The public will be able to learn more and ask questions about the proposed ordinance, often referred to as “Leave No Trace Behind” regulations.
- Meeting topics include:
- Unattended personal items to be placed in storage boxes or removed from the beach nightly to increase nesting success for sea turtles
- Protection of the “wrack” line
- Protection of native vegetation south of Semmes Road
- Authorization needed for county personnel, or their designee, to mark and monitor sea turtle nests and shore bird nesting areas on private property
