Heroes and villains will arrive at West Florida Public Libraries on Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in honor of DC Entertainment's annual Batman Day, joining fans across the country in celebrating the iconic legend. WFPL’s main Batman Day celebration will take place at the Pensacola Library, 239 N. Spring St., and all library locations will have children’s activity packets and a special Batman-themed story time the week of Sept. 12.
While children will be building their own card stock Batmobiles® for wind races and decorating customized masks, teens and adults can try to escape a trap created by the Riddler, play games and look for the villains hidden around the library.
DC Comics characters including Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Two-Face and Commissioner James Gordon will make an appearance, and a surprise guest will judge a costume contest beginning at noon. The costume contest will have three categories: youth, teen and adult.
West Florida Public Libraries will be partnering with Pensacon and other local businesses for the celebration.
