James Ireland was recognized by the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners as the Escambia County’s May Employee of the Month. Ireland, who serves as a GIS Technician in the Public Safety Department of the Emergency Management Division, was presented a proclamation for enthusiastically providing technical support and routinely completing outstanding work for emergency communications.
Ireland readily volunteers for large-scale 911 and Computer Aided Dispatch mapping projects that ultimately benefit the citizens and the products that he produces are pin-point accurate and extremely detailed. He has created numerous new layers for 911 and CAD mapping, which allows for 911 cell phone calls to be co-located with virtual mapping points that depict the caller’s exact location. This aids in reduction of response times to citizens.
He has assumed the role of system administrator for the Escambia County Emergency Operation Center’s software package called WEBEOC and has provided a level of technical support and expertise that has labeled him a system expert within the region. Ireland has recently begun working on a regional committee to help develop a process to support a WEBEOC regional software implementation for seven other counties in the Panhandle.
