The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners recently adopted the final selection criteria for proposed Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies (RESTORE) projects resulting from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The final criteria includes one minor amendment that added two additional points in the bonus category for projects that promote/encourage off-season tourism.
A web-based project portal is currently being developed for citizens who wish to submit project ideas, with the adopted selection criteria being used to evaluate and prioritize projects submitted for RESTORE funding. Further information about the project portal will be announced once it has been finalized.
With the BCC’s adoption of the final selection criteria, the MYIP process moves into phase three of a five-step process that is expected to be completed in early 2016. At that time, Escambia County will submit its multi-year implementation plan (MYIP) to the U.S. Department of Treasury for evaluation and allocation of funding.
