FDOT to Hold Public Meeting on Pensacola Bay Bridge PD&E Study

Published Oct 18, 2012

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public information meeting regarding the Pensacola Bay Bridge Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.  The meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 18 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. CDT at the Pensacola Civic Center, 201 East Gregory Street, 2nd Floor, Rooms C1, C2 and C3, Pensacola.

The study involves the replacement of the Pensacola Bay Bridge located at State Road 30 (U.S. 98) from 17th Avenue in Pensacola to Bay Bridge Drive in Gulf Breeze.  Various alternatives and alignments have been studied which address both safety and capacity improvements that will tie into the existing facilities. After the meeting the alternatives will be further evaluated and the reports are updated to reflect changes that may result from public input that is received.

A PD&E Study is a major step in FDOT’s highway development process. A PD&E Study assists the FDOT in determining the location, conceptual design and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed roadway improvements. During the PD&E Study process, feasible alternatives are developed for roadway improvement projects. These alternatives are evaluated based on environmental, engineering and socioeconomic conditions, safety needs and public input.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status.  Persons who require special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should contact Brandon Bruner, P.E., toll-free at (888) 638-0250 ext. 509 or via email at [email protected] prior to the meeting.
