HMGP: Delano Drainage - L Street - Herman - Leonard Street

The original Delano Street Drainage Project covers an area bound by Fairfield Drive, Pace Boulevard, Massachusetts Avenue, and "W" Street. It was divided into two separate drainage basins, the North Kelly Ave Basin and the South Herman-Delano Street Basin.  The study recommended certain drainage conveyance and pond site locations to address the drainage needs within this 300-acre area.

Due to the June 9, 2012, and April 30, 2014, storm events, the study was expanded to include an additional 350-acre drainage area down-gradient of the South Basin to provide an overall plan to address the drainage needs within the entire area. The expanded area includes Herman Street, east of Pace Boulevard; “L” Street, south of Herman Street; a portion of Fairfield Drive; and a portion of Leonard Street.

During Hurricane Sally, this area flooded once again.  FDEM and FEMA were notified of the continued flood impacts to properties.

The project includes four new and two modified stormwater ponds.
