Escambia County is in close communication with the Florida Department of Health to keep the public aware of the most current recommendations from the Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

What is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (also known as COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. virus graphic 

What are the symptoms?

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

How is it spread?

  • Contact with someone with the virus who is sneezing and/or coughing
  • Indirect contact from contaminated hands and objects soiled with nasal and throat secretions, such as tissues

Help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses such as Coronavirus

  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discard in trash
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water is not available
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
