The Perdido Riverwalk nature trail, part of a conservation easement for the Perdido Landfill, is about 2/3 of a mile long. The trail winds along the Perdido River through two distinct ecological communities: oak/pine uplands and bottomland hardwoods. The Perdido Riverwalk is host to many species of plants and animals, including the Florida Anise tree, which is listed as threatened by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Wild turkey and deer have also been spotted on the trail. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Should the gate be locked during regular Saturday hours, visit the scale house and an employee will assist you.
