Mission Statement


The goal of the Escambia County Facilities Management Department is to provide safe, clean and comfortable facilities for county departments, agencies and the citizens who frequent them. The department is also responsible for the maintenance, repair and security of county-owned and leased buildings, utilities, capital lease management, space needs planning and the oversight of capital improvement and renovation projects.

FY 2017-2018 Accomplishments

  • 4-H Livestock Facility (Completed) 
    • Construction of a multi-purpose livestock facility for the property at Chalker Road. The facility is an approximately 3,700 square feet building with open walls except at the storage area and is intended to be used as a temporary barn for livestock. The facility includes storage areas, water for washing down the animal stalls and electric for lighting and fans. The project was completed in September 2018 at a cost of $146,108.
  • Juvenile Justice Detention Corridor (Completed)
    • The project constructed a new corridor between the Juvenile Assessment Center and the Detention Center for a better secured access. The project was completed in May 2018 at a cost of $59,667.
  • ADA Projects at Various Locations (Completed)
    • ADA modifications were completed at various locations based on funding, with locations selected by a committee. Locations receiving modifications: The Billy G. Tennant Clinic, Beulah Community Center, John R. Jones Recreational Complex, Myrtle Grove Park, Ashton Brosnaham Park. The project was completed in May 2018 at a cost of $368,909.
  • Central Booking and Detention Facilities Demolition (In Progress)  
    • This project is for the demolition of the existing Central Booking and Detention Building because of the damage caused by the April 2014 flood and explosion. The project’s cost estimate is $592,000 and is anticipated to be completed in 2019.
  • New Escambia County Correctional Facility (In Progress) 
    • This project is for construction of a new 720-bed correctional facility through the design build process. The design for the new Escambia County 720-bed correctional facility will be in two phases. Phase 1 - Design Criteria Package will construct a 720-bed correctional facility with core services to handle future housing unit build outs. Phase II - Design will construct the remaining housing units to reach a capacity of 1,476 inmates. The project’s cost estimate for Phase I is $144,842,844 and is anticipated to be completed in 2020.
  • Supervisor of Elections Navy Boulevard Warehouse Modifications (In Progress) 
    • The project is for the renovation of the building located at 3201 Navy Boulevard to house the Supervisor of Election’s warehouse and training facility. The project’s cost estimate is $1 million and is anticipated to be completed in 2019.
  • Beulah Regional Park Restroom Addition (In Progress)
    • The project is for the construction of a new restroom facility at the Beulah Regional Park. The project’s cost estimate is $167,000 and is anticipated to be completed in June 2019.
