Escambia County’s Natural Resources Management and Parks & Recreation Departments are working to establish “living shorelines” along Navy Point. Living shorelines have many benefits, including increased water quality and marine habitats and erosion prevention. This project was authorized through permits issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and incorporates public pedestrian access to the shoreline.

The Navy Point Living Shoreline was funded by a grant provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. 

Oyster shells were used in some areas of this project. Please be careful when participating in water activities as the shells may cut bare feet. 

Please follow any swimming advisories that may be posted in the park by the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County.
