Woodlands Subdivision Drainage Improvements

The Woodlands subdivision, developed in the late 1970s, included 72 residential homes of mostly single-story brick construction.  The subdivision is located to the north of Nine Mile Road with the main entrance to the subdivision being Sunnehanna Drive.

A power company easement borders the west side of the subdivision. The eastern portion is bordered by Scenic Hills Golf Course with Thompson Bayou running through the property. This subdivision also has multi-family dwellings along Sunnehanna Drive and is bordered by a few commercial properties along Nine Mile Road to the south.

Several storm events have impacted this area with heavy rains and flooding. Maintenance items have been addressed through the years, with some individual property improvements constructed, in attempt to minimize further negative impacts during substantial rain events.

The objective of this project is to provide improved stormwater conveyance, storage, and stream restoration to address flooding in the Woodlands Subdivision and a portion of the adjoining downgradient Scenic Hills subdivision.
