On September 16, 2020, Hurricane Sally made landfall as a Category 2 storm in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Because Escambia County, Florida is on the east side of and directly adjacent to the landfall location, significant damages to the existing infrastructure occurred at Willowbrook Lake Dam.

Escambia County is procuring construction services to facilitate the repair of these damages, and additional improvements consistent with the requirements for NRCS reimbursement.

Willowbrook Lake Dam is located on the west side of Chemstrand Road (CR749) between Orby Street and Dye Street in Gonzales, Florida. It is the intent of this project to repair/upgrade the dam. Notable items to be addressed within this project include, but are not limited to the following items:

1. Removal of all sediment and debris from within the outfall pipes.
2. Removal and replacement of damaged armoring around the emergency spillway.
3. Filling, regrading, sodding, and replacing the underdrain within the scour areas around the emergency spillway.
4. Filling, grading and replacing the armoring at the U-Wall energy dissipater.
5. Filling, grading, and sodding at the box culvert wingwalls.
6. Removing sediment, grading, and replacing riprap along the stilling basin.
7. Removing sediment from the box culvert.
