West Roberts Road Widening & Drainage Improvements

West Roberts Road Drainage and Roadway Improvements project is a segment approximately 1.75 miles along West Roberts Road in District 5. The construction area begins at Highway 29 and continues west to the 90° turn at Sutton Place. This project will provide improved drainage and reduce road overtopping during rain events, as well as other safety improvements to the roadway. Improvements include roadway widening increasing both travel lanes to12-foot with 5-foot shoulders from Highway 29 to Pine Forest Road. The roadway from Pine Forest to the 90° turn will be resurfaced and striped. Additionally, the drainage system will be realigned to accommodate the wider roadway and upgraded to current standards within the County right-of-way.

A portion of West Roberts Road between Stallion Road and Highway 29 will experience temporary lane closures with detours beginning Tuesday, June 2 while crews install new stormwater culvert crossings beneath the roadway.

The second phase of this work will begin:

Phase two: Lanes will be closed along West Roberts Road between Stallion Road and Tate Road beginning Tuesday, June 9 . Work is expected to be completed by Friday, July 24.

Traffic on West Roberts Road will be detoured along Stallion Road, East Kingsfield Road, Tate Road, and Highway 29. Drivers should use extra caution and follow road crew instructions and posted signs when traveling through the work zone.

Residents, pedestrians, local traffic and emergency vehicles will have access to properties within the work area at all times; however, there may be short periods when a driveway or entrance may be blocked temporarily as equipment and materials are moved during construction.

If other roadway closures are necessary or work is delayed, another notice will be issued.
