Ten Mile Creek sustained substantial damage due to the April 2014 rainstorm to the western portion of the creek which is the site of 2009-2010 County stream restoration/stabilization project. Stream banks and the floodplain bench were severely eroded. Many of the original in-stream structures had either become compromised or completely failed. Gullies formed along portions of the stream threatening property and county infrastructure. The site extends east 1,700 linear feet upstream from the bridge crossing at Pine Forest Road. Damage to stream channel and bank erosion occurred adjacent to the county infrastructure in the right-of-way and within existing drainage easements. Stream and bank erosion on private property was the focus of this project. County maintained structures damaged were at risk due to the flood. This was a NRCS funded project.
