The Ortega Subdivision is located in District 3. This project includes a pond along Florcita Drive on the southeast end of the neighborhood. An iron rock layer can be seen in the pond bank, an indication that soils are not conducive to pond recharge. The existing drainage system is unable to function properly with the inadequate retention pond.
Escambia County is working on the best approach to address reported flooding issues. Land acquisition and/or additional easements are to be included as part of the solution.
