The maintenance yard experienced a slope failure creating a head out during the April 2014 storm event. The failure allowed considerable amounts of sediment to enter Jackson Lake. The head cut is approximately 100 feet wide and 45 feet in depth. It is estimated that the side slopes experienced stormwater runoff flow velocities greater than 3 feet per second.
Uncontrolled surface runoff from Hurd Lane caused severe scour and erosion during the April 2014 storm event. The scour resulted in a slope failure on the west bank of Jackson Lake, south of the Escambia County Maintenance Yard. The failed slope is approximately 10-30 feet wide and 50 feet deep resulting in approximately 75,000 cubic feet (2,800 cubic yards) of soil erosion and deposition into Jackson Lake.
