Escambia County has been awarded $2,862.137.00 in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) funding for drainage improvements at two locations in the Town of Century: 1. Jefferson Avenue, and 2. Alger Road Bridge.
These areas experienced flooding which caused localized erosion and deterioration to the structural integrity of the culverts at Jefferson Avenue and the Alger Road bridge. Fortifying these culverts and the bridge against additional deterioration will increase their resilience to future disasters. The improvements will include measures such as bridge replacement, slope stabilization with rip rap, flowable fill, erosion matting, grassing, etc., as required, to harden the structures and mitigate against future damage during a storm event.
