This project consists of two, separately funded parts: a water quality improvements portion and a park amenities portion. The goal of these projects is to manage water quantity, improve water quality, improve wetland habitat and species in addition to creating new recreational opportunities in the Olive Road Headwaters area.
The water quality improvement portion of this project includes the design and construction of a retention pond and hydrodynamic separator to treat stormwater that flows off Olive Road into Carpenter Creek, which ultimately flows into Bayou Texar.
The park amenities portion of the project will enhance public access with a nature trail and paddle-craft launch, allowing users to access the 'lake' feature of the creek. Public access to the area will also be increased with the creation of a new parking area. This plan additionally includes the implementation of a pollinator garden and a passive recreation area which will feature tables and benches.
