The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations has temporarily modified
contractor licensing requirements for repairs related to Hurricane Isaias, expanding the requirements to allow registered and
state-certified contractors to perform work in Escambia County and other affected counties.
Executive Order 2026-02 has been issued to avoid hindering mitigation, response, and recovery efforts related to Hurricane Isaias.
Note: This is temporary relief from certain licensing restrictions. State contractor licensing requirements still apply.
The modified requirements will be in place until Dec. 5, 2026, or earlier if Executive Order 2026-02 (as amended) is rescinded, at which point all licenses will be required to reciprocate to continue permitting. The DBPR has temporarily modified licensing requirements for the following contractor types:
- State-certified or Registered General Contractors, Building Contractors, or Residential Contractors: May perform roofing work for the repair or installation of any roof type when providing contracting services.
- Registered Contractors: May work outside of the geographic scope of limitations or requirements outlined in Florida Statutes when providing services.
- Electrical and Alarm System Contractors: May work outside of the geographic scope of limitations or requirements outlined in Florida Statutes when providing services.
Contractors who wish to perform work in Escambia County for repairs related to Hurricane Isaias must complete the Temporary License Registration Packet. Download the packet here.
