Escambia County to Host Seafood Safety Symposium April 13

Escambia County and the Marine Advisory Committee invite the community to the Seafood Safety Symposium Monday, April 13 to learn more about seafood safety and how to make healthy decisions when consuming and handling seafood.

The symposium will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Office Complex, 3363 W. Park Place, Room 104, during the regularly scheduled Marine Advisory Committee meeting. The symposium is open to the public and free to attend.

Guest speakers for the symposium include:

  • Robert Turpin, Marine Resources Division Manager, Escambia County Natural Resources Management
  • Dr. Benjamin Abo, Chief Medical Officer, Escambia County Public Safety
  • Rick O’Connor, Sea Grant Extension Agent, Florida Sea Grant
  • Thomas Derbes II, Santa Rosa County Sea Grant Extension Agent
  • Keith Mille, Biological Administrator, Division of Marine Fisheries Management, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
