Wildfire Contained in Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve

Escambia County Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service responded to a wildfire in the Jones Swamp Wetland Preserve Thursday, March 26, which resulted in damage to approximately two acres inside the preserve.

The fire is fully contained, but residents and visitors should avoid the fire area in the preserve near Patton Drive. Lingering hot spots and smoke are expected to be present throughout the weekend. There are no reported injuries and no damage to private property due to the fire.

The Florida Forest Service is investigating the cause of the fire and will continue to monitor the area throughout the weekend.
