Escambia County Monitoring Severe Weather Beginning Tonight, March 11

Escambia County Emergency Management is monitoring possible severe weather beginning overnight Wednesday, March 11 into early morning Thursday, March 12. Residents are encouraged to monitor the risk and have multiple ways to receive weather updates.

Escambia County has a Slight Risk for severe weather, according to the National Weather Service of Mobile. A line of storms will move across the area early Thursday morning, with the timing for Escambia County expected to be between midnight and 4 a.m. Possible hazards include damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and possible tornadoes as strong as EF2.

All Escambia County beaches will be at a High Risk of rip currents beginning Wednesday evening and continuing throughout Thursday. During this time, the surf will be dangerous for all levels of swimmers. Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware and continue monitoring the forecast for updates. Ensure you have multiple ways to receive warnings and know your safe place ahead of time.
