Escambia County, in partnership with the Canopy Council and Canopy Restoration Project, invites residents to three volunteer opportunities to help plant trees in Escambia County. Volunteer opportunities will take place Friday, Jan. 16, Saturday, Jan. 17, and Saturday, Jan. 24 at various locations throughout Escambia County.
Friday, Jan. 16:
Volunteers will meet at the Escambia County Central Office Complex, 3363 W. Park Place, to help transport trees and mulch. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own gloves and water. Time slots are available from 9 a.m. to noon and noon to 3 p.m. Sign up to volunteer here.
Saturday, Jan. 17:
Volunteers will meet at the Escambia Extension Office, 3740 Stefani Road, at 8:30 a.m. to watch a short tree planting demonstration before heading out to assigned locations with a team to plant trees. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own shovels, gloves, and water. Sign up to volunteer here.
Saturday, Jan. 24:
Volunteers will meet at Galvez Landing, 5820 Cruzat Way, at 8:30 a.m. to watch a short tree planting demonstration before leaving to assigned locations with a team to plant trees. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own shovels, gloves, and water. Sign up to volunteer here.
The Canopy Restoration Project unites volunteers and local organizations to plant native trees, beautifying the community and improving the environment for everyone. Trees will be planted in the right of way or front yards of residents who have applied for trees through the Canopy Restoration Project. Learn more about the Canopy Restoration Project here.
