Escambia County Corrections is proud to announce the graduation of Capt. Shawn Hankins from the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute's Executive Leadership Seminar, a state program focusing on quality leadership in the criminal justice profession.
Capt. Hankins is among 31 criminal justice professionals representing 26 agencies across Florida who recently graduated from the program, which is designed to provide continuing professional education for upper-level managers within Florida’s criminal justice community.
During the three-week program, participants met in Tallahassee to engage in intensive coursework, with an emphasis on quality leadership and preparing executives to lead and manage change effectively. Seminar topics included communicating through a crisis, critical thinking, proactive leadership, organizational leadership, emotional intelligence, servant leadership and strategies for overcoming adversity.
"I'm incredibly proud of Capt. Hankins for continuing to pursue opportunities to enhance his leadership skills, which not only benefits Escambia County Corrections, but all of the individuals we protect and serve every day," Escambia County Chief of Corrections Rich Powell said. "Very few people are cut out for the work we do as criminal justice professionals, and it's imperative to have strong leaders like Capt. Hankins at the helm to help us succeed as an organization. Congratulations to all of the graduates, and thank you to FDLE for offering opportunities like this for continued growth within our profession."
