Escambia County Fire Rescue will host a press conference Friday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. regarding a recent rescue that occurred on Saturday, Oct. 7, during a residential structure fire. Battalion Chief Curt Isakson will discuss the rescue of a civilian from the fire, the role EMS and Emergency Communications played in the successful rescue, and ECFR's role during Fire Prevention Month. One or more Escambia County Commissioners may be in attendance.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire at the 700 block of Calais Lane. Upon arrival, moderate smoke showed from a single-story wood-frame structure with one occupant standing in the driveway. Initially, ECFR was told that no one else was believed to be inside the structure. Upon entry into the home, ECFR's Ladder 12 crew spotted another occupant. In less than 60 seconds, the patient was removed from the home and transferred to Escambia County EMS. Both occupants were transported to area hospitals by EMS.
