Escambia County is pleased to announce Kaycee Lagarde as the Strategic Communications Director, a new position to further enhance the county’s communications with citizens.
Lagarde started in her new role with the county on Sept. 27, bringing over 10 years of experience in local government and media to the position. Most recently, she was the Public Information Officer for the City of Pensacola from 2019-2023, under the leadership of Mayor D.C. Reeves and former Mayor Grover Robinson. As PIO, she served as the city spokesperson and was responsible for managing communications for the Office of the Mayor and City of Pensacola, including press releases, social media and web content. Lagarde also implemented communications strategies to promote city initiatives, along with planning and promoting events for the city. While at the City of Pensacola, Lagarde communicated with citizens and the media through numerous crisis events, including the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Sally.
Lagarde graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelor’s degree in communication arts/journalism. She was named a 2019 Inweekly Rising Star, 2020 Rising PR Professional for the Florida Public Relations Association Pensacola Chapter, 2023 FPRA Pensacola Chapter Member of the Year, and she is a graduate of Leadership Pensacola class of 2022.
From 2016-2019, Lagarde worked for the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners in the Community & Media Relations Office, assisting with managing county communications, and serving as a spokesperson for the county to the media and public.
“I am looking forward to continuing my career in government communications here at Escambia County,” Lagarde said. “Local government impacts so many aspects of our everyday lives, and I’m excited to work with County Administration and staff to share some of the many initiatives, projects and stories that are positively impacting residents.”
In her role as Strategic Communications Director, Lagarde will work under the leadership of County Administrator Wes Moreno to implement strategies to promote county initiatives, projects and plans to citizens. She will be responsible for developing community engagement plans, assisting with short- and long-range planning initiatives, and implementing campaigns to increase community engagement and awareness.
