Jon was joined by District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender, Pensacola Beach Public Works Division Manager Kirk Troil, Public Works Director James Higdon and Deputy Public Works Director Tyler Davidson for his proclamation reading.
The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Jon Lee, Maintenance Worker in the Public Works department, as the September 2023 Employee of the Month. The board recognized Jon’s selection at the Sept. 7 BCC meeting.
Jon began his career with Escambia County on Sept. 26, 2015. Prior to joining the Escambia County Public Works department, he worked with the Santa Rosa Island Authority beginning in May 2002. He is an important member of the Pensacola Beach Public Works division, working hard to keep Pensacola Beach beautiful year-round.
In his duties as a maintenance worker, Jon is essential to Pensacola Beach’s Bands on the Beach function, held every year from April to October. In preparation for Bands on the Beach, Jon helps set up for as many as 4,000 attendees each Tuesday night and cleans up after every concert. While beachgoers are enjoying the music, Jon can be seen tending to the cans on the pavers, stocking the bathrooms and assisting vendors with anything they may need during the event. Jon works diligently with a smile on his face, staying focused on ensuring Bands on the Beach is an enjoyable experience for all.
In addition, Jon is often called on to train new employees that join the Public Works department. He has been recognized by his team as a talented trainer, ensuring that new team members learn how to properly perform every aspect of their job in a timely manner.
“Jon’s exceptional work ethic, dedication and high performance make him a stand-out member of our team,” said Public Works Director James Higdon. “We are inspired each day by his professional excellence, dedication and love for Pensacola Beach, and his joyful attitude. These qualities make him a valuable asset to Escambia County and Pensacola Beach Public Works. We are proud to celebrate his hard work and recognize him as the Employee of the Month.”
