District 4 Commissioner Bender Receives FAC Presidential Advocacy Award

At the 2023 Florida Association of Counties Annual Conference, held in Orange County, Fla., June 27-30, District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender received the Florida Association of Counties Presidential Advocacy Award.

“I am extremely honored to receive the Presidential Advocacy Award” said Commissioner Bender. “I appreciate being recognized for advancing Escambia County’s legislative agenda at the state level and fighting for home rule.”

During the conference, Commissioner Bender was also appointed Chairman of the FAC Health, Safety, and Justice Committee, and was re-appointed to the FAC Board of Directors. From 2022-2023, he served as the Chairman of the FAC Finance, Tax, and Administration Committee.

Commissioner Bender currently serves as secretary and treasurer for the Institute for County Government and is involved in developing the coursework for the County Commissioner Certification and the Advance Commissioner Certification I and II classes.

Commissioner Bender has completed his Florida Association of Counties County Commissioner Certification (2019) as well as the Advanced County Commissioner I (2020) and Advanced County Commissioner II (2022) certifications.
