The Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce Visitor Information Center, in collaboration with the Escambia County Department of Public Safety, will host a cooling center at their facility, located at 7 Casino Beach Boardwalk, during the Pensacola Beach Air Show weekend. The cooling center will be open Thursday, July 6, through Saturday, July 8, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
“The Pensacola Beach Chamber and Visitor Information Center is looking forward to partnering with Escambia County Public Safety to provide an 'oasis' and place to cool off for our visitors during this year’s Pensacola Beach Air Show," said Meg Peltier, President and CEO of the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce Visitor Information Center. "Like previous years, temperatures will be in the 90s with high heat indexes, so we wanted to offer an alternative place for fans to cool off and avoid serious heat conditions. Blue Angels fans negatively affected by the heat are welcome to stop in our air-conditioned building with restrooms to cool off and rehydrate. There will also be outdoor cooling tents with fans, cooling misters and free water available throughout the show.”
Members of the Community Emergency Response Team will volunteer at the cooling center throughout the weekend. Additionally, Escambia County has shared information regarding beach safety, traffic and beach rules.
The Visitor Information Center is located just north of the Pensacola Beach beachball in the teal and white building and is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For fans and visitors with medical emergencies during the air show, please go to the Emergency Medical Services tent located near the Pensacola Beach Public Safety building to the west of the Gulf Side Pavilion or call 911.
