Longleaf Drive between Wymart Road and Kemp Drive will experience a road closure with lane detours due to bridge demolition and reconstruction beginning Wednesday, May 24. Construction consists of new stormwater drainage, road and bridge construction along Longleaf Drive. The road is expected to be re-opened by Thursday, Aug. 10.
During this time, traffic headed east will be detoured west to Pine Forest Road, south to Mobile Highway, east to Michigan Avenue, north to Highway 29, west to Diamond Dairy road, south to Alfonso Street, west to Wingfoot Way, south to Rolling Hills Road, west to Kemp Road and back to Longleaf Drive.
Traffic headed west will be detoured east to Kemp Road, north to Rolling Hills Road, east to Wingfoot Way, north on Alfonso Street, east on Diamond Dairy Road, south on Highway 29, west on Michigan Avenue, north on Mobile Highway, east to Pine Forest Road and back east to Longleaf Drive.
A formal Maintenance of Traffic Plan was submitted to and approved by the Escambia County Transportation and Traffic Operations Division for approval on May 2, 2023. Kenneth Quick, contractor's representative, was responsible for the submittal of the approved MOT Plan and has a valid certificate for Advanced MOT training.
