Dave Myers was joined by Scott MacDonald, Interim IT Director, at the April 6 BCC meeting for his Employee of the Month proclamation.
The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Dave Myers, IT Web Coordinator and Developer in the Information Technology Department, as the April 2023 Employee of the Month. The board recognized Dave’s selection at the April 6 BCC meeting.
Dave began his career with the county on April 7, 2015. In his role as IT Web Coordinator and Developer, he is responsible for performing a variety of IT functions that include providing support for the entire web presence for Escambia County and all associated databases, servers, custom applications, and APIs that allow the public and employees to connect to Escambia County websites and applications. He also ensures county websites remain protected against cyber threats.
In addition, Dave serves as the sole web and application developer on the IT team. He maintains the web presence for Escambia County, the Supervisor of Elections, Escambia County Area Transit, Emergency Management and other web-based applications he has developed.
Dave's specialized skillset has been vital for the success of several projects he has led, including the UKG employee information integration, the local contractor lookup tool, the employee resources intranet, and the websites for the emergency rental and mortgage assistance programs. His skills have also aided him in many successful projects that impact Escambia County agencies and departmental partners. This includes the Community Shelter Dashboard, an application that helps track shelter and food site information. Dave was responsible for leading the development efforts by meeting with community leaders to bring the dashboard to life.
“Dave is an integral part of our IT team,” said Escambia County Interim IT Director Scott MacDonald. “Being the sole web developer for the county carries a lot of weight, but Dave performs his work with a can-do attitude and without complaint. He regularly looks for ways to make our websites and applications more efficient and user-friendly for citizens and employees. I’m pleased to award him with the April Employee of the Month and take this time to celebrate his accomplishments.”
Dave is a graduate of the Florida State University Certified Public Manager program, a nationally recognized program for training and developing public managers and supervisors.
