District 4 Neighborhood Cleanups Bring in Over 45 Tons of Debris

Published Oct 14, 2022

Escambia County is pleased to announce over 45 tons (90,000 pounds) of debris were collected from District 4 neighborhood cleanups held in September 2022 in the Northpointe and Olive Road communities. In addition to the debris collected, cleanup crews picked up 3,060 pounds of household hazardous waste, 299 tires and 204 gallons of paint. These cleanups were the final District 4 cleanups in 2022.

"We had an extremely successful season for neighborhood cleanups in District 4," said Escambia County District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender. "By providing this service to our residents, we can work together to keep our neighborhoods clean while protecting the environment by properly disposing of household hazardous waste, tires and paint. We look forward to offering this program again next year and strongly encourage all who can to participate in these free events."

District 4 neighborhood cleanups for 2023 will be announced at a later date. A full list of future neighborhood cleanups is available here on the MyEscambia.com event calendar. Residents who live within the boundaries of a neighborhood cleanup will receive a postcard in the mail with more information.

Residents can also view future cleanups and detailed boundary lines through the Neighborhood Cleanup Interactive Map. Visit here to view the map.

During neighborhood cleanups, crew members and volunteers visit different neighborhoods in the county to remove a variety of debris and waste free of charge. Since 2016, more than 5,312 tons (10,624,000 pounds) of waste have been disposed of through neighborhood cleanups throughout Escambia County.
