Escambia County is pleased to announce over 62 tons (124,000 pounds) of debris were collected from District 4 neighborhood cleanups held in August 2022 in the North Davis and Ferry Pass communities. In addition to the debris that was collected, cleanup crews picked up 2,040lbs of household hazardous waste, 152 tires and 113 gallons of paint.
"I'm happy to work with county staff to offer this program to our residents," said District 4 Commissioner Robert Bender. "Helping residents with debris removal improves their quality of life and keeps our communities safe and clean. We strongly encourage those who live in the boundaries of a cleanup to participate."
Totals will soon be available for September cleanups in District 4 neighborhoods that include the Northpointe area and Olive Road. Future District 4 neighborhood cleanups will be announced at a later date. A full list of future neighborhood cleanups is available here on the MyEscambia.com event calendar. Residents who live within the boundaries of a neighborhood cleanup will receive a postcard in the mail with more information.
Residents can also view future cleanups and detailed boundary lines through the Neighborhood Cleanup Interactive Map. Visit here to view the map.
During neighborhood cleanups, crew members and volunteers visit different neighborhoods in the county to remove a variety of debris and waste free of charge. Since 2016, more than 5,266 tons (10,532,000 pounds) of waste have been disposed of through neighborhood cleanups throughout Escambia County.
